Background: The world's tiniest dog may possibly have the biggest ego. Don't tell him he's a toy, the chi takes himself very seriously. Long coat or smooth, this pocket-sized pup is also the longest-lived breed of dog. Chihuahuas are fast moving, in an effort to stay out from underfoot, but small enough to be exercised indoors. They don't like the cold. Because of their "big dog" attitude, Chihuahuas should be socialized with people and other dogs from a young age. Caution must be taken when interacting with young children, since Chihuahuas are very delicate. Chihuahuas bond strongly with their owners and attempt to be very protective.
